New Shop – Episode 2

Let’s get to framing!

We begin with the sill layout, which was the first issue encountered. The concrete guys laid out the j-bolts for 2×6 walls, but I am building 2×4 walls. My solution was to use a treated 2×6 sill and just build the 2×4 walls right on top of it. Of course we didn’t compensate the framing for the height difference so my walls are now 10′ 1-1/2 inches high! As you see in the video one garage door header was missing originally but placed later on. We miscut the 2-2×12’s so I had to get new ones later on in the video. Trusses were ordered locally and were done within a week. The scissor lift was a lifesaver when installing these as you see.
